- 2016: #12 Little Rock vs #5 Purdue (85-83 2OT 1st Rnd)
In his first and only year as head coach at Little Rock, Chris Beard led his squad to a historic season. The Trojans were the Sun Belt Regular Season Champions for the first time in 28 years and entered the tournament with a school record of 29 wins. Both teams had tenacious defense as Little Rock was allowing only 59 points per game and Purdue only 64 points per game. With less than 5 minutes left to play it seemed as if the Boilermakers were on their way to victory as they led 63-49. However, an improbable comeback by the Trojans tied the score at 70 and forced overtime. Little Rock would pull off a remarkable upset and advance to the Round of 32 for first time in 30 years and only the second time in school history.
- 2017: #4 Florida vs #8 Wisconsin (84-83 OT Reg. Semifinal)
It was an evenly played game throughout with each team having it’s share of scoring runs as well as droughts. Wisconsin led by as many as 11 in the first half while Florida led by as many as 12 in the second half. With only 6.5 seconds remaining in regulation, the Badgers were down by 3 points (72-69) but a running 3-point shot by Zac Showalter forced overtime. After a pair of made free-throws by Wisconsin, the Gators trailed by 2 points (83-81) with only 4 seconds left and no timeouts to set up a play. The ball was in-bounded to Chris Chiozza who raced up the court, jump stopped outside the 3 point line and shot a running 3 pointer. The ball hit nothing but net and the Gators were moving on in the most dramatic fashion.
