The Gardner-Webb Runnin’ Bulldogs are coached by Tim Craft who in his 6th year with GW recently recorded his 100th career win. Visiting team High Point is coached by Tubby Smith who has over 600 career wins and has taken 5 teams to the NCAA tournament. Smith won the National Championship (1998) in his first year at Kentucky and was presented with numerous Coach of the Year awards in 2003 after going undefeated in conference play with the Wildcats. The Bulldogs have never made it to the NCAA Tournament since becoming a D1 school in 2002. They are currently 12-9 overall, 2-4 in conference play and have yet to lose at home this season. GW recorded their first win ever at an ACC school by defeating Georgia Tech 79-69 (12/17/18). Less than two weeks later they picked up another road win against an ACC school beating Wake Forest 73-69 (12/29/18). The Bulldogs are led by Seniors David Efianayi (G) and DJ Laster (F). Efianayi is averaging 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists per game and has scored 20+ points in seven games this season. Laster is averaging 13 points along with 6 rebounds per game and has over 1000 career points with GW. The home team shoots an impressive 38% from behind the arc and averages 8 steals per game while the visiting team hits 29% of their 3s along with 6 steals per game.

*Player to Watch: Jose Perez (G) is a 6’5’’ Freshman from Bronx, New York who is averaging 16 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists per game. He has been awarded the “Big South Conference Freshman of the Week” three times since joining the Bulldogs. Perez is a versatile player who can play multiple positions and possesses the triple threat of scoring, rebounding and passing. He has two double/doubles in the last three games and recorded a triple/double (17 pts, 10 reb, 10 ast) earlier in the season.
